Privacy policy

Plastone respects the personal information shared through our enquiry channels, job briefs and site work. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect that information under the Protection of Personal Information Act.

Information we gather during an enquiry or order

We collect personal information that you give us when you submit our contact form, request a quotation, arrange site templating, or ask about fabrication and installation. This may include your name, contact details, delivery or site address, company name, job notes and any measurements or drawings you provide.

We may also receive information when you share photographs of a kitchen, vanity or splashback area, or when you ask us to work with an office or shopfitting schedule. If you deal with us on behalf of a body corporate, contractor or business, we may keep the details needed to manage the instruction properly.

How we use the information you share

We use personal information to prepare quotations, plan site visits, carry out digital measuring, produce cutting and fabrication records, arrange installation work and manage aftercare advice. The information also helps us confirm dimensions, edge profiles, sink cut-outs, hob cut-outs, seam positions and splashback fitment notes.

  • To assess the job and prepare a quote
  • To coordinate templating, fabrication and installation
  • To record job instructions and site access details
  • To handle invoicing, records and lawful business administration
  • To respond to aftercare queries about cleaning, sealing or surface care

Lawful grounds for processing and sharing

We process information where it is necessary to perform a contract, take steps before a contract, comply with a legal duty, or pursue our legitimate business interests in a careful and proportionate way. Where consent is required, we will rely on it for that specific purpose.

We may share limited information with staff members and trusted service providers who need it to perform their roles, such as estimating, templating, workshop scheduling, transport or installation coordination. Those parties are expected to handle personal information with appropriate confidentiality and only for the task at hand.

Records linked to quartz, solid-surface and site work

As a countertop fabricator, we keep records that support accurate manufacture and installation. That may include slab layout plans, cut lists, seam notes, edge details, sink positions, digital measurements and site photographs. These records help us match the final product to the approved brief and reduce mistakes during fabrication and fitment.

  • Quotations and job cards
  • Templates, measurements and site notes
  • Installation records and completion details
  • Aftercare notes where a customer reports staining, heat marks or joint movement

Storage, retention and access control

We keep personal information for as long as it is needed for the job, for reasonable aftercare, and for lawful accounting or record-keeping purposes. When information is no longer required, we take steps to dispose of it securely or anonymise it where appropriate.

Access is limited to people who need the information for their work. We use practical controls to reduce unauthorised access, loss or misuse, and we expect the same discipline from anyone who handles records on our behalf. No system is perfect, but we treat confidential job information with care.

Your POPIA rights and how to make a request

You may ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, request a correction where details are wrong, or object to certain processing where the law allows it. You may also withdraw consent where consent was the basis for collecting or using the information.

If you want to exercise a right, please use our contact form and tell us what you need. We may need to verify your identity before making any change or releasing records, especially where the request involves a project file, site notes or billing information.

Astros Marketing (Pty) Ltd acts as the operator for this site and supports the handling of information collected through the Plastone enquiry process. Our business records remain subject to applicable South African law and the needs of the trade work we perform.
